Design Story

The katana runs on a long diagonal through the centre of the panel, its dark hilt wrap and slim grey edge acting as the vertical spine of the whole layout. Behind it, a broken brush circle in charcoal opens the lower half, its dry-edged strokes and scattered flecks giving the piece its hand-drawn rhythm. A pale hexagonal crest sits ghosted into the background, low contrast on purpose, so it reads as depth rather than a second subject. Faceted line-drawn shards and a single violet orb break the monochrome with the only real colour in the piece. Serif lettering reading AIZEN runs vertically down the left margin above the Japanese name and a small framed kanji mark, forming a quiet editorial column that balances the diagonal.

Carry & Styling

On a tote, the vertical text column follows the bag's left edge while the blade carries the eye up toward the handles, so the silhouette itself becomes part of the layout. Generous negative space around the panel keeps the graphic scale confident without shouting, and the near-monochrome palette with one violet accent makes it easy to style against neutrals or heavier outerwear.
